Te Uru Kahika Business Plan Overview 2026-2027

The 2026-2027 Te Uru Kahika Business Plan is focussed on two areas where coordinated sector leadership is most urgently required: implementation of the future Resource Management System and preparation for Local Government Reform.

These priorities do not diminish the importance of our other workstreams. Rather, they recognise that every area of our collective programme — from freshwater and bio-management through to transport, science, data, risk and resilience, and kaupapa Māori — will have an important role to play in supporting successful reform implementation and transition.

This focussed approach ensures Te Uru Kahika remains agile, strategically aligned, and focused on the areas where working together can deliver the greatest value for councils, communities and the environment.
